The upper line of the display is generally divided into two parts – case/call number and the room. The case/call number reflects the current case number, and the room shows the consultation suite number where the doctor is attending the patient. When your case comes up, the machine will display the number along with the consultation suite number where you must proceed. This system can address up to 30-32 consultation suites or examination rooms simultaneously. This type of OPD patient call system also has a lower line where a message from the hospital/clinic is displayed along with date and time.

Desk or Wall Unit

This is another common type of OPD patient call system, where the unit is placed on the doctor’s desk. This OPD patient call system consists of a numerical keypad where the doctor punches the case/call number.

When the doctor feeds in this number, the previous patient’s entry is deleted automatically. This system also has a hash key. When a patient enters the consultation suite, the doctor presses this key to indicate that the suite is currently busy. Door Display Unit

In large hospitals and clinics where there are multiple examination rooms, patients can enter the wrong room. However, a door display unit prevents them from doing so. In this type of OPD patient call system, the display unit is put at the top of the room entrance from where the patient can view the case number.
